Are you living your dream life? Or are you just starting to see what it is you really want out of your dream life? Most people go through life ending up accepting what’s handed to them, while others know they can build the life of their dreams and go for it.
It most often is not an easy undertaking and it could take years. However, knowing what you want and working for it is worth the journey of your lifetime. Don’t miss out on it or undervalue the process. Realize, it doesn’t happen over night, but getting there is half the fun.
Here are a few tips to help you get started building the life of your dreams.
Step One – Sit Down and Decide What it is You Truly Want
Don’t let someone else’s dream influence yours. Do you want a big mansion or simply a nice cozy house? Do you want an expensive high performance sports car, or just a nice reliable car? Do you want to travel the world as often as you’d like or would you be happy with traveling once or twice a year if at all?
It’s up to you to decide what fits you and the lifestyle you want. Sure, we all see people with large, expensive homes, own 2-3 expensive cars and can travel anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat, but is that what YOU want out of life?
Perhaps you would like to travel a lot but prefer to live in a modest house, or maybe you rather have a big fancy home and don’t care about travel at all. The choice is yours, but you have to know what you want before you can set out to get it.
Step Two – What you can do to Build that Lifestyle
Do you want to create products that help other people and sell them? Or do you want to promote products that someone else created and earn money from it? Are you good at public speaking, selling real estate, etc. Or, do you need to put more money aside for later on?
Do you want to run a successful business online or offline, or both? What value can you offer your market so they are compelled to buy from you?
To successfully create the lifestyle of your dreams, you have to make money. The best way to do that is to own your own business, and offer a needed service to others.
It’s rare that people create a good living by working for others. When you do, instead of building your dream, you end up building theirs. So think of ways you can build your dream.
Step Three – How much Time and Energy are you willing to put into it?
If you’re not willing to put in the time or effort to build your dream, it will never happen.
Starting out almost always takes a lot of hard work and long hours. By putting in the time and effort up front, will eventually lead to a time when it will take less of your time and effort to earn more money.
But it is up to you and only you to decide if you’re willing to trade in your time now, for your freedom later.
Step Four – Serve others
Come up with ways you can serve your market. When you help others, you are actually helping yourself.
If you run a blog or website, what ways can you offer that builds value to your community? How can you grow trust with your following so they will turn to you when they need something? How can you give them the help they need?
The best way you can earn money and build a dream lifestyle is by serving others. Discover ways you can do that in your chosen field or niche, and start doing it.
You can do it with info-products, webinars, live events, etc. Offer a lot of value for free, but also develop a paid program to really help those who are serious about growing and learning.
Final Thoughts…
You just discovered the secret in building the lifestyle of your dreams – and that is by helping others build their dreams and their life. This is a big part why people work at personal development; to help others as they help themselves.
I think many people rush past Step 1, yet it’s very important!
You are spot on, Michel. Knowing what you want and whether or not you are willing to do the work to get it are crucial first steps. I remember back in the 90’s when I got in to Amway, all I wanted was a nice house and a hunter green Pontiac Bonneville with buff interior but the upline was always trying to cram jet planes and Lamborghinis down my throat. How could I possibly succeed when people were telling me that what I wanted wasn’t good enough? I much prefer having the freedom to set my own goals and the responsibility to try to reach them.
Am I living my dream life? Kind of. It’s a new life in the making and there are definitely some growing pains, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything at this point.
That is awesome, Rob!
It’s often better for us to compare our-self with our-self instead of others; that way you can gauge if you are actually improving, staying the same, or declining. 🙂
Life is not all about driving fancy cars and having a ridiculously huge bank account even though those thing are nice to have! Having those 8 to 10 hrs back that you put into your job or career is priceless. Having the time freedom to do all of those things that you really want to in life is something that people dont talk about enough. And of course if you have more time to yourself then you have more time to make more money.
There is always a trade-off between time and money, but even though both have importance – once you lose time, you cannot buy it back! 🙂
