Activity Report for April 2016
Even though it has been a rough start to a new year, things are beginning to turn around. In March I had a major life RESET with the sudden passing of my beloved wife Lorraine. Because of that, I’ve been in a daze throughout March and most of April.
To say the least, I haven’t focus much with my online business until recently. Yet, again, I continue to made sales behind the scenes as I have built my sites over the years with enough content that still attracts attention. Four of my websites helped to generate sales, with one site generating over $2,000 in sales as you can see in the table below!
Expenses were kept to a minimum with a change over to a new hosting account. The original hosting company wouldn’t make a renewal deal with me, so I moved 3 of my sites to a new hosting company and saved a bundle. I had a small issue with those sites that had to be corrected the next day, but now everything is working great.
The end result for the month of April was a gain – a big gain! Even though I have experienced losses for the other months, at least I have been making sales every month so far this year, which is an improvement over last year.
Also another domain name came due which caused me to examine that website’s ROI. I discovered that the site has been unproductive for more than a year and a half – so I said, “bye-bye!” No use losing money and time working with a niche site that isn’t producing positive results for me.
I had a 175% increase in the amount of blog posts and reviews that I did for the month. In addition, I added more product choices to some of my (Amazon) based websites. Even though this is an improvement, I still need to get back to several of my other sites that haven’t added a new post since August of last year!
Web traffic again increased for each of my sites across the board giving me a whopping 160% increase in web visitors over the previous month. This is the second month in a row that experienced an increase in web visitors to my sites.
I have still been neglecting my email list since January! I didn’t lose any more subscribers this past month, but I haven’t been marketing to them either, which is a loss for both them and for me. I also need to look for a better offer to get additional sign-ups once I get back to taking care of my list.
Also I stopped promoting to my other list that is managed by a third party and to their offers. I discovered that their automated email system isn’t working correctly. Instead of giving me credit, it has no affiliate attached to the offers at all. I brought it to their attention, yet received an ambiguous response.
No progress was made in April on several information products that I had been working on. Some of the steps need to be outsourced, and once I get paid my commissions (which are always delayed – sometimes even for months), I can then pay for that work to be done.
